Part of a seasonal garden maintenance in Scotland

**Summer: A Season of Splendor and Lush Growth!**

Summer has arrived, bringing warmth and plenty of daylight hours—Scotland may be far north, but we still get our fair share of sun in the season! Keep up with your garden’s needs, and it will reward you with vibrant colors and bountiful produce.

**Plant Care & Planting Schedule**

– **Flowers in Bloom:** Deadhead flowers like roses, geraniums, and daisies to prolong their blooming season.

– **Veggie Garden:** Harvest crops like lettuce, radishes, and strawberries. Keep sowing fast-growing crops like salad greens throughout summer for continuous harvest.

– **Herbs Galore:** Trim back herbs like basil and mint to prevent flowering and encourage bushy growth.

**Hedge & Lawn Maintenance**

– **Lawn Care:** Water your lawn during dry spells, preferably in the early morning. Mow weekly, but don’t scalp the grass—keep it a bit longer to retain moisture.

– **Hedge Trimming:** This is the perfect time to give hedges a summer trim. Keep them tidy and in shape, but be mindful of any birds that may still be nesting.

**Do’s and Don’ts for Summer**

– **Do:** Mulch your beds to retain moisture and control weeds.

– **Don’t:** Over-fertilize; too much can stress plants in the warmer months.

– **Do:** Harvest crops regularly to encourage more growth.

– **Don’t:** Let weeds get the upper hand—pull them out before they spread.

**Helpful Tip:** Place shallow dishes of water around the garden to attract helpful critters like bees, birds, and frogs, who’ll keep pest numbers down!
